Undermount sinks sit below the surface of the granite countertops attached to the underside of the granite with silicone and mechanical attachments (clips).
This type of sink shows off your granite since the hole in the granite has polished sides that are visible.
An undermount sink can be stainless steel, enameled cast iron, or steel, or granite composite. The granite composite sinks, such as Pegasus brand, are molded from granite and resin but are not considered true granite sinks.

A cost saving advantage I have found with using apron sinks, is that you can afford granite in a small kitchen using granite remnants or leftovers from granite slabs. The apron sink design does not require continuous lengths of granite or a front rail of granite at the sink. You merely have two small seams at the rear of the sink, so it’s actually aesthetically pleasing.
